EV charging & PV solar panels

"Photovoltaic solar panels are bringing the power of the sun to the electric vehicle industry. Astute EV owners are charging their cars with PV solar panels to augment free motoring miles to an already solar-powered home."

PV & EV charging.

In a nutshell.

Electrons are like cats, they go where ever the food is best. PV electrons are the same, they go to your washing machine, PV heating converter or the demand from your EV charging console.

Electric vehicle (EV) sales are growing at an unprecedented rate. The rise of EVs has been boosted by the recent popularity of photovoltaic solar panels that can contribute to the free-charging of electric vehicles.

The science bit.

Li-on batteries are well-proven in Chinese taxis, because they do over 100,000 miles and still, have 80% charging abilities. In cycle terms, a Li-on battery will last a decade and then another decade at 80% capacity. 20 years plus is no problem for EV's.

Batteries from the embryonic EV market from the 1990s are still being used today - Amazing!

Range 250-300 miles per charge.
Compliance with IET EV regulations.
230V AC/50Hz.
BSI Certificated to BS EN 60335-1 for safe home use.

Today, PV contributes 30 years of:

Free electricity day and night.
Free hot water day and night.
Free motor mileage with an EV (electric vehicle) day and night.
Pride in your astute foresightedness.

Questions about EV charging points

Do I need planning permission to install?

No, the charging system is compliant with all building regulations and is suitable for installation without planning permission required.

Can your EV charge system be used on any electric vehicle?

Yes, almost every electric vehicle currently on the UK market is able to charge from our mode 2 leads system. Even using a standard 13 amp domestic socket will fully charge an electric vehicle overnight.

Can the EV charge point be installed in my garage?

Yes, the charging system can be installed both indoors and outdoors and is fully designed to withstand our variable weather in the UK.

Can I DIY or self-install an EV charging point?

Yes, as long as you have full Part P accreditation. Find local and qualified electrician if you wish to purchase an EV charge point without our professional installation service.

Can I use a charging point for other reasons?

Yes, the charge point actually doubles up as a traditional electric socket that's ideal for home/garden maintenance, charging mobility scooters and electric bikes, etc.

Is your charging system future proof?

Yes, it is designed to be future proof and easily upgradable to a full Mode three fast-charge format in addition to upgrading kits that are available if you decide to increase the number of electric cars in your household.

How much does a charge point installation cost?

The costs of an EV charge point installation depends on several factors. A consultation appointment can be arranged to give you your options and costs.

Can my PV solar panels generate all the free power I need to charge my EV?

Yes, most of the time, but depends on several factors, including PV system size, weather conditions and your household power demands when charging. If you're able to routinely charge your electric vehicle during the daylight hours, then it is entirely plausible to get the majority of your charge from the sun.

How long does your charge unit last?

The robust design allows us to guarantee the installation for ten years, but the life expectancy is easily double that.

Can I choose where to install the charge point?

Yes, although we would usually install the charging point, near as possible to the location of your parked EV.

How soon can you install?

Our nationwide network of installers are very accommodating and in most cases will allow you to choose a preferred installation date.

What maintenance is required?

No routine maintenance is required.
