The motivation
Stuart Lovatt in 2004, first coined the phrase ...
"The fight for civilisation is won! The challenge of keeping it has just begun!"
... and the Heat my Home website began.
Within the entire history of the human race, the last two generations have been the first generations to not have to fight for its basic survival. We are currently living through 'the golden age of humanity' and very few people appreciate this fact. Our economies were built upon cheap oil/energy over the last 150 years, brought about by oil and the oil age, but over the coming years humanity will be forced by increased global demand and limited resources to live without or far less than we have been used too.

Simply put, peak oil refers to the point at which all the easy-to-extract oil has been extracted, leaving only the less accessible, very expensive to retrieve stuff. The oil age will end within the next generation's life time and future generations will once more have to fight for their basic survival. Will our civilised society survive without oil? After feeding ourselves, the most important basic need is heating for our homes. This is why I have created Heat my Home, to aid humanity's transition to life without or with less oil to burn.
Heat my Home is aimed at homeowners who want to save money on energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint in the shorter term, or contribute towards the transition period for the longer term.

I'm hoping this website will help you see the world slightly different, more fragile, more vulnerable. After all, to be aware is to better prepare. I am hoping the Heat my Home website can help aid our civilisation's transition away from the 'age of oil' with less of a bump.
Otherwise "enjoy it while you can" because the outlook for future generations is bleak. I foresee a father and his son sat round a camp fire chatting. The fathe tells his son that once opon a time, their were great iron eagles that soared round the skies. People once walked on the surface of moon, but they both know that this is only a legend, a myth passed down the generations.
