If you don't have solar panels installed I don't have solar panels yet

100% green electricity for your home - Good Energy, the UK’s only dedicated 100% renewable electricity supplier makes it easy for people concerned about climate change to buy energy from a true green source.

By switching your electricity supply to Good Energy, you’ll be helping support over 1,000 renewable generators across the UK – people and communities making renewable power from wind, water, sunlight and sustainable biomass. For every unit of electricity its customers use, Good Energy ensures that a corresponding unit of renewable electricity is put back into the National Grid.

100% green energy gas for your home - Good Energy’s gas tariff, Gas+ is supplied in conjunction with its renewable heat incentive, HotROCs. Revenues from Good Energy gas are used to fund HotROCs, the UK’s first renewable heat incentive which rewards domestic solar thermal generators for the heat they produce.

Just as Good Energy electricity customers are supporting the growing community of independent renewable electricity generators, gas customers are supporting those generating renewable heat.

If you do have solar panels installed I have solar panels already

If your are generating electricity with PV solar panels?

Award-winning HomeGen scheme - This ground breaking scheme pays microgenerators 15p for every unit of renewable electricity your panels generate – even if you use them yourself. This is on top of the governments 41p per unit incentive.

You don’t have to install an export meter which may cost you extra. Just read your total generation meter twice a year, send the readings to Good Energy and the credit you have earned will be added to your Good Energy account - it couldn’t be simpler.

Generating heat with solar thermal panels? Check out HotROCs

If you’re generating heat with solar thermal panels, why not check out Good Energy’s groundbreaking renewable heat incentive, HotROCs. It’s the UK’s first – and as yet, only – renewable heat incentive, paying people 4.5p per unit of renewable heat generated.

Because metering heat generation is currently very expensive, Good Energy estimates, or ‘deems’, the amount of heat you will produce and then pays you for it by considering things like the angle and orientation of your installation, your geographical latitude and the capacity of your solar thermal panels.

Green energy doesn’t need to cost the earth

The average annual saving is 2 tonnes of C02 from an average household footprint of 6 tonnes. And that’s exactly why we started a zero-carbon electricity company, we wanted to make a big difference by offering a service which is real without the greenwash.

Good Energy have its own wind turbine farms, it also uses hydro- electric, bio-generation and PV solar panels through relationships with over 1,000 independent generators of green electricity.

There have been many times in history when humans have come together to change things for the greater good. There has never been such a greater reason for humans to come together and make a difference now.

Joining a real 'green energy tariff', is how most people make their homes and lives greener.

Good Energy is one of the UK's largest green energy suppliers, and it supplies over 25,000 homes and businesses with 100% renewable electricity sourced from all over the UK. As well as having its own wind turbine farms, it also uses hydro- electric, bio-generation and PV solar panels through relationships with over 500 independent generators of green electricity.

Green/Bio gas

Good Energy the UK's leading supplier of electricity from 100% renewable sources – is celebrating one
year of successful trials of domestic gas supply. Good Energy started supplying gas in November 2008 after customer feedback and extensive market research showed that a majority of Good Energy customers would prefer to buy their gas from Good Energy rather than other suppliers.

"Green gas", supplied from renewable sources, is to be made available for the first time to UK homes by Good Energy. Biogas has the potential to generate as much as half of the UK's domestic gas with the right government backing. Special strains of algae could one day see us growing our own source of "green gas". Just as with Good Energy's not-for-profit electricity business model, the company promises to use the money from customers' gas bills to invest back into new sources of green gas, with the aim of helping to prevent climate change and making Britain energy independent.

'We always knew we couldn't just launch a standard gas product after years of only selling 100% renewable electricity, but wanted to meet customer demand. This is the first, and the only, renewable heat incentive offered by any supplier. We have set a benchmark for the industry and for Government while also financially supporting our customers to reduce their own emissions.'...Learn more >>

Frequently asked questions

Reality or rhetoric?

This is not green wash. We only use renewable technology. No Oil, Gas or Coal is used to produce our power.

Why not attach a small wind turbine to my home?

Wind is great on larger-scale or on coastal areas or wind swept hills but your average urban location means performance and efficiency is low. Urban locations do not have the correct wind speeds, planning permission is unlikely if you have neighbours and vibration problems could lead to structural building damage to your home.

"The likely output of a micro-wind turbine on a pitched roof house in a large city such as Manchester would be less than 150kWh a year; 2% of the energy consumption of an average house"

We hear about energy companies 'green washing', do you?

No. Good Energy is the only dedicated 100% renewable electricity supplier in the UK.

Why switch to a green energy provider?

Not everyone can afford to invest in solar panels, so Heat my Home works in partnership with Good Energy to bring green energy to anyone who wants it. Simply switch to the only 100% green energy supplier and sit back and feel good about yourself.

We already have solar panels installed, why bother?

Solar panels are great for providing your own green energy, but supplementing your home if you need a back up supply with a green energy supplier all helps with the cause.

How much CO2 will my system save?

Around 2 tonnes each year on average. This is dependant on how much energy you use at present.

How long will the switch over take?

Relax, It will take us 3-4 weeks to get the transfer set up and we will send your confirmation of what is going on.

Do we get enough wind in the UK to really make a difference?

Yes. The UK is in an enviable position within Europe with regards to wind. We don't only rely on wind turbines, but invest in other renewable technologies such as hydro and PV solar panels to increase our overall energy yield.

Large-scale wind turbines, also known as wind generators, are the most cost efficient way to harness green energy in the UK. These wind turbine networks work all year round, contributing to household and business energy needs, through our partnership with Good Energy.

Do you send salesmen round to my house?

No. Other energy companies may have sales people, but we don't because it keeps prices down and most people are generally happy to switch once they understand what our company is aiming for in the present climate.

If I change my mind can I cancel easily?

The whole energy switching process is regulated and you have 7 days to think about it before anything happens.

Once I have become a Good Energy customer, what next?

We believe that our customers are our best advertisement - they believe passionately in what we do and are helping us to make a difference every day. If you’re a Good Energy customer working hard to spread the word to your family and friends, local community or a group you’re active in, we’d like to reward you for your efforts.

How do I claim my £25 recommend a friend reward?

It’s really easy. All you have to do is make sure your friend tells us your account number. There is no limit on the number of friends you can put forward. Some people have gained good credit on their green energy bills using this method.

Will your energy prices fall in the future?

Yes. After the initial investment in the technology itself, maintenance of the wind turbines and hydro-generators etc are the only overheads. Not having expensive gas, oil or coal costs means we will be able pass on our running-cost savings to our customers over time.
