Professional evacuated solar tubes
How these supersede other solar tubes?
1. This solar technology includes the patented Low E glass. This uses a special low iron glass formula which has reduced the reflective properties and increases the absorption.
2. Because the glass surface is not flat. It has 360 deg absorbtion ability, which give better performance than all other flat solar technologies, giving a more even output throughout the day and a higher output at low outdoor temperatures can be achieved with this technology.
3. Each solar tubes has twin-skin vacuum filled glazing for better heat retention. Just like a thermos flask, once the heat is in it becomes trapped.
4. A choice between direct flow solar collector type or heat pipe type.
Ready-built and self-assemble evacuated tubes kits
We supply two types of evacuated tubes systems, both manufactured within the Europe and both LCBP, Solarkey marked and Swiss tested and approved:
- The Direct Flow Kit - Our premium solar tubes collector which comes easy assemble for ease and quicker installation times. The direct flow system allows better performance with less tubes. Comes with 2 and 3 square metres size options.
- The Heat Pipe Kit - Our heat pipes comes with a self build solar tubes collector. This is heat pipe technology and gives great performance with 20 and 3 square metres tubes options.
Installation tip: If you are uncertain of the roofing aspect of a solar installation, then some plumbers employ a local roofing company to apply the panels to the roof for them.
Skills and equipment
To undertake an evacuated tubes installation requires competant but basic knowledge of plumbing principles. If you are changing the hot water cylinder, then a Part P qualified plumber is recommended.
The solar tubes themselves come pre-built at the factory, so hoisting the panel up to the roof using correct safety equipment is relatively straight forward. A scaffolding tower up to roofline level is required for a safe working platform.
The electrical set up is basic, but if you are taking an electrical spur from the bathroom area, then a Part P electrical qualification is required.

A word about quality
While other competitor products may work quite well for the first few years, the materials used, result in deterioration of performance year after year. This is due to factors like unreliable seals, poor manifold quality or the use of reflectors that degrade over time.
A cheap option is often a false economy with evacuated tubes were longevity and performance are concerned.
Performance results:
Swiss research gave clear indications of where the best and worst solar tubes are made. The most effective flat plate collectors are made in Austria and Germany and the best evacuated tubes in Switzerland and Northern Ireland. Six of the 10 worst performing evacuated tube collectors are made in China. Its tests show that the best performing collectors are more than twice as efficient as the worst ones.
